Burton Agnes, an Elizabethan Stately Home that has been listed as one of the 20 best houses in England, is the fabulous setting for a weekend of Jazz and Blues on 6 - 8 August 2010.  Beverley Arts Trust are delighted to support the Burton Agnes Jazz and Blues Festival with our first late night programme.

Friday 6 August Festival starts at 6:30pm, BAT late night programme 10:15pm - 12pm

Saturday 7 August Festival starts at 1pm, BAT late night programme 10:15pm - 12pm

Miles Cain

Miles Cain is a musician, writer and storyteller based in York. He has played many festivals including Cambridge Folk Festival, Beverley Folk Festival, Greenbelt and Wychwood and has played numerous sessions for BBC Radio. His journalism has appeared in national newspapers and his novel for teenagers, A Song For Nicky Moon, was shortlisted for The Times / Chicken House children's writing award. He is currently writer in residence at HMP Everthorpe in East Yorkshire. www.milescain.com  

Two

Two are Helen Turner and Sharon Winfield. The duo formed in 2006 and recently release their second album. Regarded by some as the 'Yorkshire's Indigo Girls', both play, sing and write their own tunes. Influences include Sarah MacLachlan and Carole King. They have played throughout Yorkshire and the North East, and have built up a strong following through constant gigs and radio sessions. www.twomusic.co.uk  

Off the Grid

Off the Grid are a Hull based band drawing from a range of jazz and funk based influences to create their own unique and highly original style – a style that has garnered fulsome praise wherever they have played. They are hugely popular on the diverse acoustic music scene of the Hull area and will surely be playing further afield before to long. www.myspace.com/offthegriduk

The Alligators

The Alligators are a local trio performing no holds barred rhythm and blues in the classic style. All three members of the band are vastly experienced and this shows in the sheer energy and exuberance of their usually sold out gigs. Holly Taymar
 
Holly Taymer has supported some excellent artists such as Boo Hewerdine, Rachel Harrington, Edwina Hayes, Ben Parker and Kate Aumonier, The Ruth Notman Band, and Rod Picott and Amanda Shires. She’s had recognition for her songwriting skills from the BBC's New Talent initiative, and also worked extensively as a session musician.  Her widely praised musical style veers between jazz with a bit of folk and folk with a bit of jazz – highly original and captivating. www.hollytaymar.com
